About Us
St Heliers Bay Pony Club is a thriving Pony Club situated in the Eastern Suburbs of Auckland, on Kepa Road,
Orakei.
Facilities include 14 paddocks, a jumping arena, two riding arenas, a cross country course, modern stables and yard complex with equipment
sheds.
The Club is affiliated to NZPCA and is part of the Auckland Area district.
During summer months, the Pony Club has approximately 20 rallies (Wednesday evenings), with 4 of those being internal events (Club competition
days).
The Club also runs events for the general public which vary each year (e.g. Showjumping day, Dressage, One Day Events and Open Days) and these
are advertised in the local papers and to other Pony Clubs in Auckland.
Rallies are run by the Rally Co-ordinator with qualified instructors leading each group of riders. The rallies consist of riding and
horse management and the members sit certificates, ranging from D+ right up to A&H.
Approximately 40 horses graze on Club during the summer, and with the wet conditions of winter, only 18-20 horses remain on Club, with the
rest being grazed elsewhere.
We are a successful Pony Club with conscientious and happy members (and their families) who contribute to the smooth running of this
Club.
We offer Riders Without Horses programme for those who want to learn more about horses, but do not have a pony/horse. These are
incorporated in the Rallies during the season. All other members need to own a horse and usually graze on Club grounds.
We welcome new members.
